Components

There are three components.

  • Protein– For best results, shell-on medium-sized shrimp should be used, and you can peel them yourself. While already peeled shrimp can be helpful, they are more challenging to cook.
  • Vegetables– green beans. Also known locally as Bagiuo beans or string beans. Roma tomatoes are a better choice for a sweeter and juicier taste.
  • Sauce – A simple mix of soy sauce and brown sugar!

Tips for Cooking

  • Use a large wok or a high-sided pan to ensure that the ingredients are evenly browned.
  • This recipe can be made in a few minutes, so ensure you have all the ingredients.
  • Heat 1/4 cup of water on medium-high heat to make green beans tenderer. Cover and steam the beans until tender.
  • Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of dried red pepper flakes to heat the sauce.

How to serve and stock?

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of canola oil
  • Medium shrimp, 1/2 pound, peeled and deveined
  • 1 onion, peeled then sliced thinly
  • 2 cloves of garlic, peeled.
  • 2 large Roma tomatoes chopped
  • 1 lb green beans, ends trimmed and halved
  • To taste pepper

Cooking steps & Instructions

  1. Combine soy sauce and sugar, and mix well. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large pan or wok on high heat. Stir in the shrimp and cook for approximately 1 to 2 minutes or until it turns pink. Keep warm.
  3. Add the remaining oil to the pan. Stir in the green beans. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until almost done.
  4. Stir in the garlic and onions. Cook for approximately 1 to 2 minutes or until softened.
  5. Mix in tomatoes. Cook, stirring frequently, until the tomatoes soften and begin to release their juices.
  6. Mix soy sauce, sugar and shrimp. Season with pepper.
  7. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes or until the shrimp and green beans are tender.
  8. Serve immediately
